Hitting a groove
Posted on January 24th, 2008 No commentsAccording to the woman of the house, we succeeded to knock out a couple of accounts this past month. Something like 2 down 20 to go? So debt paying is going well I think but we’re still going to decide on a hardcore budget with slight variation. You gotta have fun money… right?
What does that mean? Less eating out, far less. We already seldom eat out but maybe we cut it from three times a week to once or twice? Less buying 20oz cokes and more buying a 12 pack because 3 20oz costs the same as 12 12oz?! Stuff like that.
We’re getting a freezer this weekend and a foodsaver hopefully. Along with cast iron dumbells because I’m not really impressed with the adjustables ones. Hooray for late Christmas gifts!
Now to save for that new computer … . . .

IT’S FRIDAY!!111
Posted on January 11th, 2008 No commentsDoes anyone remember that song? The 5 o’ clock whistle? Back when DAVEFM was Z93 (R.I.P.) they did it every Friday at 5pm. It wasn’t them originally though. It had a long long running and I know nothing about the history of the song, actually, more of a medley. I must find that song… I had it on a CD at one point. CURSES!
Last week we were all sick. This week was recovery mode. I had a tight knot in my stomach and still kinda do, for a couple of days. I don’t feel stressed but I know that I am. With regular work, family and side work, woo. I’m even having to turn away sidework. Oddly I don’t get much reward from sidework. I get some extra $$ but it hardly seems worth it when I have to shew away my four year old. I feel particularly bad when I do that.
The other night he asked me if I wanted to come upstairs and play Zelda with him. That was the first time he’d ever exclusively asked me to do something with him. I mean he’s asked me to do things but just the way he asked. Instead of heading to the pit to work I went upstairs and played Zelda. It was totally worth it.

Upkeep!
Posted on January 9th, 2008 2 commentsIt’s really hard to keep a specific theme sometimes. I guess if I were an overpaid late night talk show host I could have a definite routine huh? Perhaps an overpaid athlete? Eh, money solves nothing. We all hear the stories of lottery winner going BANKRUPT or ending up strung out on drugs or in jail. I can’t say how I’d react to winning tens of millions of dollars or more. I can say one thing though, the first thing I would do is I’d get a lawyer!
Enough about lala land. Good news today. Our car can be fixed for a lot cheaper than the first estimate. Nearly 1/3 the cost of the original, actually. The guy yesterday wanted to put four brand new ignition coils in. At 100 a pop, you can do the math! We just need one coil and new spark plugs plus a couple other oddities.
I have nearly all of the Christmas lights down. Enough at least to not look like “that” neighbor who leaves them up until May. Reminds me of an old fellow that lived in my home town. I only ever knew him as ‘Major’. Not sure if he was a military guy or that was his actual name. Well he left his lights up all year round but I think it was because he was elderly. His modest showcase was the highlight of the decorating in that town, at the time.
Life comes at you fast.
