Sickness
Posted on January 22nd, 2008 No commentsThis go ’round the kids seem to be sicker and more often. Our youngest just can’t shake a cold. It comes and goes but at least it does so quickly. He’ll be rough about 2-3 days then he’s good for a couple of weeks, then he gets a cold again it seems. The oldest is sporting a nice cough as well and we’ve all battled colds, strep and the like over the past few weeks.
I’d really like a good solid REAL snow event but more than that, I want warm, no, I want HOT weather. Cold weather is nice for a few days then it just needs to go away. I mean, what good is cold if there is no precip eh?
The year in money so far is ‘so-so’ much the same way our diet is ‘so-so’. Exercise just doesn’t exist right now. With two kids (and sick at that) there just isn’t time.
We’re still waiting on a couple of late Christmas gifts to get our basement gym in working order. A food saver will also be in that package and we’re going to take a bit of sidework money for the freezer. After those expenditures the budget goes into ‘debt pay’ mode. With that, she and I will agree on a strict budget. To which we’ll add a structured eating routine. We have enough randomness in life and random money spending with random eating just makes it randomania. I don’t wanna be RANDO-MAN!

Holiday Madness
Posted on December 28th, 2007 No commentsHolidays are great. That is, until they make you sick! No not colds and other illness. I mean stress and bad (for you) food. I’m sitting here spaced out, stomach is barking at me and have a variety of other ‘stress’ indicators.
What is important though is to stay on target. How I (and you) feel is how you make yourself feel, for the most part. I’ve felt this way numerous times, it’s nothing new. It sucks, I hate it, I don’t get used to it but I know that in a few minutes or hours, I’ll be feeling better.
This blog is personal finance but mostly, it’s personal. It’s a view into what real life is like. I saw a quote from someone that was kind of funny. I’ll paraphrase it:
Any story where characters live happily ever after is a story that hasn’t ended
Ok maybe that’s a little dark but what I get from that is that in movies, stories, etc. once you reach the end, in your mind, it’s done and over. Real life isn’t like that. You don’t marry a prince or princess and encase yourself in a time proof cell where you lack the need for income, sustenance and the like. You continue to live right? I hope so!
So in closing, we’re never done living our lives until we’re done living our lives.
How profound eh?
