Shoulder: Feeling a bit better each day.  Still stiff and painful when I exert too much force on it.  The progress is slow but it’s expected since the shoulder typically takes a long time to heal.

Cardio: Ran today actually which was good for the shoulder because it got some blood flowing to it and kept it loose.  I’m a little stiff today but I want to keep active.  The doc told me to keep the shoulder moving, just don’t stress it with weight.

Eating: Blah, I did decent but by days end I’d snacked a bit too much.  Not a blowout by any means but just not as well as I’d like to have eaten.  I’m looking for moderation, not perfection.

Sorry, this is actually day 6 but I’m writing about day 5!

Day 5 was great.  I did splurge on lunch and a small dessert after dinner.  I had a hamburger and baked beans at lunch and dessert was some of that double extra super mega churned icecream.  Calories were in the range of 1900 which is still a deficit for the day.

I went to the gym last night too.  I cannot remember the last time I went to the gym on Friday.  It’s been at least 2 years.  I did a killer cardio workout.  My shoulder still hurts, I think it’s a rotator cuff thing.  I’ll go easy on it for a couple more days and see how it feels.  I should probably ice it up…

Oh well, good first week.  My scale this morning said 210 but more than that I can comfortably wear some jeans I’d been avoiding for a few weeks.  They aren’t falling off yet, but it’s a great start.  Looser clothing speaks way more than numbers on a scale.  Aside from my shoulder bugging me, I feel great!

    Summary:
Today was great.  I did feel like I was slipping a little in the evening after halving a cupcake with the wife.  I responded by mixing another half with a meal replacement.  EAT THAT!  Calories are on target.  Exercise went great too.

    Eating:
Still a little carb heavy, gotta bring up the protein to balance with it but it was better than yesterday.  No I don’t do a carb restrictive diet.  They’re unhealthy and impossible to maintain.  Ended up in the realm of 1700 calories today (added some misc. calories for picking at some waffles from my kid’s breakfast…)

    Exercise:
Today was cardio day.  I went really strong and had a new personal best.  The machine said something like 320 calories burned.  I do interval cardio training which is a very intense 20 minute workout.  I’ll post more about it later but it’s a great workout for the busy person.  It allows your body to pass through various phases of energy production and really taxes your system.  In short, it can be an ass kicker and not something you ever want to do 2 days in a row.  I’ll post an in depth explanation of how that method works later.  It’s interesting.

I’ll probably start talking about what motivates me more and what works for me.  I’m still pondering on the pics.  Do I post my now, NOW and do the after later or do them both, bam at the same time?  Decisions!

Today was very good.  The diet was balanced for the most part and I made the gym and had a great workout.  I feel good despite that post workout “blah” I sometimes get.  I made sure to have some sugar right after the workout in the form of sucking on a peppermint for a few minutes.  I didn’t finish it.

My weigh-in was right at 212 with shoes on, so it’s probably closer to 211 or 210.5.  I will round to 212 since I was too lazy to remove my shoes (ironic huh?).  I’ll post my measurements and stats on the sidebar and update them weekly.  Doing it daily can be a mental setback because weight can vary depending on time of day and other factors.  Monday evening will be my weigh-in time.  I might move it to saturday morning though, we’ll see.

I will update my calorie and fat/carb/prot totals later this evening when I have them.

1 down, 83 to go [in Phase I]

Oh and pics to come too… :-o

    Update:
1800 calories consumed – On target!
